Born in Fukushima prefecture, Junya Watanabe was educated at Bunka, a protégé of Comme Des Garçons where he began his career.
In 2001, the designer developed a ready-to-wear line for men. Avant-garde and futuristic, Junya Watanabe is considered the pioneer of techno-couture, an experimental fashion where synthetic materials, technological innovations and traditional textile know-how meet.
