The master of recovery
Piet Hein Eek gives a second life to the pieces of wood which he recovers and assembles in order to create new marquetry, new furniture.
A graduate of the prestigious Design Academy in Eindhoven in 1990, this Dutch designer is theone of the pioneers of upcycling - recycling waste - which he implements on an artistic level. Three years later, he opened his manufacturing workshops in disused buildings abandoned by Philips and exhibited in 1996 at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.Supportedby the Ruinart house at Art Basel Miami 2013,it has a recycled wooden arch that can accommodate bottles of champagne.
