Born in Colombia, adopted by French parents who were frequent travelers, Ackermann grew up in Ethiopia, the Maghreb, Iran, the Netherlands and Belgium.
This mix of diverse cultures has nourished his creations since his debut at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1994.
He founded his eponymous fashion house in 2002, and presented his first collection at Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2002-2003. Visit 2010, the designer launches his first wardrobe (in his own words) for men, inspired by his collection for women.
Fascinated by Yves Saint Laurent, Haider Ackermann is characterized by his refined spirit, the’The elegance of his silhouettes, and his work on colors, contrasts, superimpositions and draperies lend lightness to the wearer's gait.
In September 2016, Ackermann was appointed artistic director of Berluti.
