Kazuyuki Kumagai founded Attachment in 1999, after working in the Issey Miyake team between 1990 and 1995.
For Kumagai, casual is a mix of casual wear and streetwear, blended with Western influences. The Attachment aesthetic is contemporary, sober and free of superficial details. The Japanese designer reinterprets classics with leather jackets, supima cotton T-shirts, jeans... Laser-cutting creates clean, near-perfect lines.
Attachment has helped popularize many of the trends that have emerged on the Japanese scene, not least that of "J-shaped" pants - cut in the shape of a banana.
Since 2007, the label has been divided into two sections. Attachment continues its interpretation of classic streetwear, while Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment turns more to trends and the use of higher-quality materials.
