Belgian-born Martin Margiela launched his eponymous label in 1988. Throughout his career, Margiela opted for anonymity, rarely appearing in public and systematically refusing interviews. In 2009, the elusive designer discreetly left the fashion house. From then on, his line was run by his Paris-based creative team, until John Galliano was appointed artistic director in 2014. Under Galliano's mastery, the brand continues to expand its artistic expertise. In addition to haute couture, accessories and ready-to-wear, the house produces a selection of small leather accessories, fragrances and design objects. Renowned for its enigmatic approach and avant-garde aesthetic, Maison Margiela continues to push the boundaries of modern design.
