On February 13, 2017 in New York, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia unveil the collection fall-winter 2017 collection from Monse. The applause still resounds as they present, with little or no transition, their very first collection as Artistic Directors ofOscar de la Rentathe same house that fostered their meeting in the mid-2000s. The symbolism is beautiful.
Bare shoulders, cascades of ruffles on the chest and drooping sleeves ... a deconstructed shirt with the air of floral origami opens the ball. The lines intersect in a game of opposing forces, offering the silhouette a cerebral purity. This work on shirts, the very signature of Monses own signature, finds its extension in their reinterpretation of the suit jacket: the subtle enhancement of a feminine look transcended by the accuracy of the materials.
Shirt, always, jacket, but also dress, skirt ... Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia inscribe the silhouette in an aesthetic both minimalist and ultra-feminine, the result of their past experience at Oscar de la Renta She spent 12 years as an intern and then became artistic director, while he spent 6 years managing the design teams.
2015 saw them leave the House that saw them grow up to found Monse together. They then put their mark on New York Fashion Week in the space of a few seasons, only to return today at the head ofOscar de la Renta.
Hand in hand, Monse advances and imposes itself, at Leclaireur Sévigné.
