In an explosion of sequins, Rei Kawakubo invites us into our childhood memories. The world is suddenly transformed into a party, and man is the heart of it. Sequins reflect shimmering colors on their surroundings, pastels make the days softer, ruffles give a shirt that touch of femininity so modern, while leopard makes us roar.
Playing on impeccable tailoring juxtaposed with classic fabrics and patterns, the silhouettes reinvent the summer suit. A jacket is built upside down, the pants see their crotch sliding towards the ground, passing from suit to saroual. Could it be back to school already? Fantasy prolongs the summer. An explosion of blue sequins on a pair of shorts so wide that they almost become a skirt, on a shirt the sequins look like stickers, a collage of doll fragments is displayed on a mesh t-shirt, Air Max 180s become candy pink.
Nostalgia has never been so sweet.
