Bode: A collection steeped in history and ethics

Emily Bode is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang University with a double major in men's fashion and philosophy. It was during her studies in philosophy that the project became clearer for the designer. 

Create her homonymous brand Bode (pronounced boh-di) by combining unique vintage textiles and classic workwear silhouettes into retro style pieces for men. 

For her, each piece deserves a second chance to shine. Each one tells a story, a personal narrative, respecting traditions combined with custom-made historical techniques. 

The designer draws her inspiration from her childhood scouring the markets, her uncle's attic in the south of France or at auctions. These varied sources have awakened in her a passion for fabrics and prints. vintage.  

As a result carefully crafted collections in New York and New Delhi from various materials such as century-old tablecloths, cereal bags and Victorian bedding. A beautifulhomage to folkloric know-how with the assembly of patchworks and the restoration of materials destined to be lost. 

Although she works mainly with antique textiles, the creator does not forget her taste and her design creativity while preserving a cultural and historical value in her timeless creations. She can count on the meticulousness of her artisanal workshop where the values of the designer are perfectly reflected. 

With its boldness and timeless creativity, the Bode brand continues to make a name for itself and is enjoying a vertiginous rise, positioning it as one of the leading names in its field since it was the first woman designer to exhibit at NYFW: Men's. 

In 2018, she won the second prize of the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund and more recently in February 2020 the first Karl Lagerfeld Prize dedicated to innovation, at the International Woolmark Prize ceremony. 

Emily Bode reinvents the codes of luxury thus managing to make a place for herself in ethical fashion.
