The love of matter
Tapestries, cushions, throws, oil bottles, carafes, all inspired by history and contemporary forms, in a purely decorative spirit.
Dutch distributor and designer Thomas Eyck heads a design house of the same name. His stint in the early 2000s at Royal Tichelaar Makkum - one of the oldest ceramics companies in the Netherlands - developed his taste for craftsmanship, from the materials used to the technique. An inveterate traveler, he spends his time at furniture fairs and shows around the world, where he finds his inspiration. Once or twice a year, he commissions designers with whom he collaborates - Dick Van Hoff, Aldo Bakker, Christien Meindertsma - to produce modern domestic objects, each time choosing a specific material - pewter, linen, porcelain, extremely strong glass... His glazed ceramic scarabs are among the most prized pieces in his collection.
