The wind will carry us
Monica Sarti grew up surrounded by the spinning mills and woolen balls of her grandfather Faliero Sarti, one of the largest producers of Made in Italy fabrics since 1948.
She soon followed her father to the trade shows. At just 20, she left for New York to make her fashion debut with Anne Klein, then Donna Karan. Deaf to the siren call, she followed her heart: her ambitions lay elsewhere, at home in Italy, in the family business.
At the beginning of the 90s, when the fashion world was in a state of flux, Monica developed a passion for scarves, a sector that was still underdeveloped. She set about giving them a new lease of life. The bangs, too traditional, disappeared, and the fabrics became more beautiful and supple, with cashmere reworked in particular. The resulting pieces won over her family and the public, and lightness became synonymous with warmth.
