Rebellious, cerebral and poetic, the Ellery woman reinvents herself for spring/summer 2017. She assumes a more architectural silhouette, new textures, exaggerated details that give her even more character, and an indomitable leadership role.

Australia has found a new ambassador in the person of Kym Ellery. With a vision far from clichés and postcards, the Perth-based designer successfully exports her flouncy sensibility from one coast to the other. Tunics infused with 70s menswear, minimalist dresses, ruffled blouses... Ellery projects an interpretation of femininity in black and white, far from the body. The secret of its straight and smooth cuts? Innovative fabrics, produced in Switzerland and Italy.

Her marked sense of style, like the subtle balance between masculine and feminine that she distills throughout her collection, makes her a new face in the fashion world. As if born of unexpected influences, the pieces are aesthetically reminiscent of a Lanvin season directed by Alexander Wang, mixing bold finishes with exceptional attention to fit. No wonder, then, her growing notoriety! In 2013, Ellery was the third Australian brand in history to be invited to Paris Fashion Week. And the brand that was, until recently, a newcomer, has quickly become a fashion actress full of promise, carried by iconic celebrities like Cate Blanchett or daring risk-takers like Solange Knowles.

This season, Kim Ellery is breathing a wind of rebellion, while maintaining the bohemian identity that has made her a success since the very first days of the Australian brand, founded in 2007 in Sydney. Ellery perpetuates the image of a femininity with straight and often monochrome cuts, almost abstract, gaining in confidence.

Leather rubs against silk velvet, the exaggerated proportions masculinize a silhouette sometimes inspired by the counterculture of the 70s, while ruffles flourish, around the arms, legs and bring, by their organic form, softness to the eternal rebels.

The silhouettes take on a mischievous air, almost Japanese, a nod to the sukeban - these gangs of young teenagers, symbols of the emancipation of new generation Japanese women. They are adorned with crocodile leather, top with a jacket cut very short at the waist, bottom with pants worn high, flared at the ankles, signature of the brand, and metal zippers. The crumpled fabrics, as for them, like the links floating in the wind, bring an inalterable touch of poetry.
