CFDA AWARDS - Monse, Balenciaga and Rick Owens honored

June 4, 2017, at Hammerstein Ballroom, the mythical hall of the Manhattan Center, Fashion was meeting to discover the 2017 CFDA Awards.

Raf Simons, taking home two awards for his work at Calvin Klein, was on everyone's lips. The young creation, too, was in the spotlight.

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the artistic directors of Monsehave seen the runaway success of their obsessive, modern brand crowned with the coveted Swarovski Young Designer Award, previously awarded to Rosie Assoulin and Hood By Air.

Devna Gvasalia has seen - like Riccardo Tisci before him - his taste for transgression of codes and references rewarded with the International Award for his work at Vêtements and Balenciaga. Proof, if any were needed, that fashion continues to take sides and positions in favor of a joyful intellectual second degree.

Finally, the big names in fashion have benefited from accolades. Franca Sozzani, the editor-in-chief of the cutting-edge Vogue Italia, who died last December, was elevated to the rank of icon. Rick Owens received the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, adding his name to the list of the most famous names in fashion, like Vera WangTom Ford, Hubert de Givenchy, and Yves Saint Laurent.
