Song For The Mute promises us a "Beautiful spring/summer... like the name of their collection. "Beautiful" but also bohemian, rich in sensations and experiences, where "Beautiful" is synonymous with lightness and wisdom, freedom and eternal youth.
Lina Ty and Melvin Tanaya imagine clothes with a minimalist aesthetic, like musicians composing melodies that are both simple and effective. The fabrics, treatments, prints, buttons and every detail are thought of as the notes of a score that they play together since their first collection in 2010.
Inspired by the impressionists, and the paintings of Claude Monnet in particular, this season they are developing a mixed wardrobe where linen, silk and cotton are mixed together.
The clothes are light and airy. The jackets, which take advantage of couture techniques, collarless shirts, or retro circa 50s, with almost transparent fabric, open on innovative cotton t-shirts, and fall on high-waisted pants.
Loose-fitting cuts offer a nonchalant look, with floral patterns, contrasting light between the matte of linen and the shine of silk, and ink prints, which this season are handcrafted - to give each piece a unique look. The buffalo horn buttons, burned by hand, and the cotton, coated with cognac for a "dry" touch, like a final note, give this collection a timeless character, rich with stories lived, and still to be lived.
