From the desire to share these new creations with the world was born in 2018 the idea of producing these unique pieces with Serax.
This marked the beginning of a respectful collaboration that saw Ann, from her workshop in Belgium, to have to show the workers in China, where porcelain is from, good techniques for the realization of her ideas. In order to teach the painting of the gradient or progressive shade in the Dé series, Ann sent films to her own technique to China, accompanied by good brushes. Beyond any technical process, it was a ritual of shadow and light which was transmitted for once from west to east.
The result of these processes is in the form of a variety of Ann Demeulemeester collections, including porcelain dishes, glass and cutlery. These are equally parts of sculptures and functional objects. Putting a table becomes a ritual in which individual decisions can be taken freely, for each guest. Something as universal as eating and drinking takes a new impetus in the formal language of Ann Demeulemeester so familiar with her previous work: in these collections, she activates the same tension between fragility and power, and light and shadow: poetry on the table.
