Ross Bleckner was born in New York in 1949.
He paints the 90's, he paints loss and memory, the explosion of the AIDS epidemic.
Between fragility and power, abstraction and figuration, he creates suspended moments. There, meet flowers, birds or more simply points, like lighthouses in the mist, anchor points as sensitive as what surrounds them.
His works can be found in the collections of MoMA in New York and San Francisco, but also in Madrid, Berlin, Los Angeles, Lucerne, ...
For decades, Bleckner has been using his aura for humanitarian causes, such as the fight against AIDS. He is the first artist to have been named Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations.
MARUANI MERCIER honors the work and life of this artist through two exhibitions, one in Brussels, the other in Paris at the MARUANI MERCIER & HADIDA gallery.
