Our story begins in 1958, when Geoffrey and Betty Parker launched their line of leather bound books and stationery accessories. Soon they received an order for a leather inlay chess board. A timeless technique that seemed so natural to the designer that he made it the focus of his business.
Geoffrey Parker Games was born, ready to become the company we know today: family-owned, attached to its traditions and know-how, playful and luxurious.
Parker surrounds itself with professional gamers to ensure that its creations meet their highest expectations, in order to make its game boards as practical as they are luxurious. And if diversity is the source of their success, he extends his product range to backgammon, a game that is then in full explosion, quickly becoming one of the leaders of the luxury game industry. A reputation which will be worth to him to create the chess board for the final of the World Championships of 1972 in Reykjavik, which sees confronting Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer.
Custom-made orders were pouring in, everyone wanted his game Geoffrey Parkerfrom retailers, to hotels, to celebrities - Stevie Wonder even had a backgammon made for the visually impaired.
Today, Geoffrey Parker Games is still a family business, with Max - president and designer - and Elliott Parker - business manager - at its head.
The company continues to grow, and its lines are expanding with it. From classic board games such as Monopoly, Cluedo and Trivial Pursuit to Mah Jong and travel games, the designs are made with leather inlays or printed leather.
